Fill in the blank actress (almost a spoiler)
After seeing Snow White and the Huntsman, I’ve decided that is Kristen Stewart’s acting style. She provides a lovely base of beauty and angst touched with sorrow. Twice there was something that looked like a smile, but since it’s up to the viewer to fill in their own emotion (because it is better for us to use our imagination) they weren’t extreme or long-lasting.
I think Reese Witherspoon would have been fantastic in the role of Snow White- she was supposed to be a character that everyone loved for her beauty, the beauty of her heart especially. There was only one scene that showed Snow White being anything resembling gracious, compassionate or anything compelling on a personal level. Reese Witherspoon may have had to stretch to do the “tough” scenes with yelling and grit, but she is automatically compelling. Anne Hathaway would have been a top choice too. Heck, I’d like to see what Katy Perry could do. Basically any actress could have done better.
It changed my mind about Twilight though. After reading the novella the other day and noting that Stephanie Meyer is incapable of writing a character with depth, I realized Kristen Stewart was EXACTLY the character from the books. Sadly that character is flat and someone tragically decided Snow White should be perpetuated in the same light of uselessness that Disney cast on her so many decades ago.
The movie could have been SO good, the guy that is known for weilding things was great, the dwarves were fantastic, the witch was creepy and the dark forest was downright disturbing. One CGI bit was trying way too hard, but the rest was spot on. The idea of what Snow White could have been was epic, but the actress ruined it with her trademark lack of anything but what you imagined.
Suuuuuuuuuck
Goiter and cyst are two things i just said while scheduling a doctor’s appointment.
I don’t feel good :(

LULZ, *we* do. He does not. He pays well and is usually regular. He’s the kind of person you keep happy no matter what antiquated method they want to use.

How can a CFO freaking forget to pay invoices??? I don’t care if he was on vacation, that’s our fraking paycheck!

He MAILED it today. I don’t know if that was from his hotel in Hawaii or his house a couple miles away. It was supposed to be in our account Tuesday. We kind of have to, like, pay for things and stuff.
It’s been a while since I did “big” grocery shopping and dinners may get creative if the check is says HI on the postmark.
Super Stupid Thursday, throwback style
Can we have this be a thing? I’ll go first.
I worked collections for car loans for a time and I got pretty good. It took confidence and education- I needed to know a few.vital things before I spoke to someone like their name, the car I was calling about, how far past due, previous arrangements. All that between time it took the auto-dialer to pop up the account on my screen and however many rings it took for the customer to answer.
There were inevitable slips with last names, just be polite and ask how to say it correctly. No big deal…. Until Mitsubishi came out with the Diamante.
“Hi, this is Sarah from Wells Fargo, I’m calling for Mr. Johnson about the Dynamite.”
The dude was downright hostile. It wasn’t until I said Dynamite and Mr. Johnson a few times that he scolded me- Diamante, and his first name is Johannsen. I stuttered a few times and then just hung up….which was probably the stupidest part of it all.
For my dear Steph from my 4yo daughter. It’s a queen and a princess having a barbeque in the back yard and a circle rainbow. One of them is you and you feel better.
The Brief Second Life of Bree Tanner
Husband’s co worker lent him the book for me to read. It is a novella based on an inconsequential (shut up) Twilight character.
It was good. Better than the trilogy, I still think Stephanie Meyer is incapable of producing much depth in a character but it was a little bit better at showing rather than telling what was going on in a person’s life. All the players in the story were interesting.
In the end I let out an involuntary sigh and a sad frown. I felt bad for the character. I felt bad that I’d read in a couple hours what probably took the co-worker a few days to read and she probably cried. It wasn’t THAT good.
In this time of super-grotesque crap people are doing to each other, I’d like to take the opportunity to say it is not new in the world. In fact, to 75% of people in my household, it’s in their blood.
